Greek verb 3982 peitho was translated into English “persuaded” in Matthew 27:20 “But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus”. The “chief priests” and church “elders” were the grammatical subjects who “persuaded” their grammatical objects “the multitude” to “destroy Jesus”. The bible makes it clear that grammatical subjects other than God persuade their grammatical objects to believe and have faith in things in direct opposition to God’s spiritual truth.
