Romans 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
If we see Romans 7:8-11 through flesh eyes we might misinterpret that the apostle Paul was blaming the law for killing his spirit. Paul’s bible phrase “in me that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing” allows us to see through God’s and Paul’s spiritual eyes to know that the “we” in “we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit” are the “election” God said “I have reserved to myself”. Paul’s word’s in Romans 7:5,7,8,9,10, and 11 are in the past tense while verse 12 is present tense, 13 is present, past and future tense. Verse 14 reminds us that even though God’s “election” in “covenant” with God killed their flesh thoughts and feelings, they still reside in flesh bodies and verses 15-24 warn God’s “election” of subsequent flesh vulnerability. Flesh Old Testament/covenant/contract/law of Moses requires judgment and punishment. Spiritual New Testament/covenant/contract/law of God requires God’s servants to bring God’s will to fruition.
