The preceding verse and the three verses that follow were taken from the flesh Old Testament/covenant/contract which is much more accurately translated and interpreted by flesh human beings than is the spiritual New Testament/covenant/contract. Jesus said: “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life”. The flesh Old Testament/covenant/contract first commandment in Exodus 20:3 is “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” while Deuteronomy 5:7 is “Thou shalt have none other gods before me” both being translated from the three Hebrew words acher elohiym and paniym. The first commandment in the spiritual New Testament/covenant/contract in Matthew 22:37-38 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” “This is the first and great commandment”. Mark 12:28-30: “And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all” “And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord” “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment” with English “mind” in both Matthew 22:37 and Mark 12:30 being translated by a “scribe” from Greek feminine noun 1271 dianoia from a compound of dia denoting God’s channel of an act and noia being God’s spiritual thoughts. The first commandment in the spiritual New Testament/covenant/contract commands that our flesh heart, soul, mind and strength be entirely God’s spiritual thoughts and ways. Few human beings recognize that the “scribe” stood in front of Jesus Christ and changed Jesus’ word mind/dianoia into the scribe’s word understanding/sunesis in Mark 12:33 being in union with the scribe’s flesh thoughts and feelings, which exemplifies why the last four verses in the bible warn us of the consequences “If any man shall add unto” or “if any man shall take away from the words of the book” and why 2Timothy 2:15 says: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” with English “approved” being translated from Greek adjective 1384 dokimos describing those who think God’s spiritual thoughts.
