Romans 11:7: “What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded”
English “the rest” above includes “Israel”. Only “the election” are excluded from “the rest”.
English “hath obtained” and “hath obtained it” in Romans 11:7 above were translated from Greek verb 2013 epitygchano from a compound of Greek preposition 1909 epi denoting superimposition and Greek verb 5177 tygchano which was best translated into English “having” “obtained” in “Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come”. The “election” “obtained help of God” predicated upon the “election” superimposing the same “help of God” to “the rest” “in this present time, and in the world to come”.
English “were blinded” in Romans 11:7 above was translated from Greek verb 4456 poroo meaning to harden as a callous hardens and covers our flesh, impeding God’s Spirit. English words cover and hide God’s inherent truth contained in God’s original Hebrew and Greek words. Greek verb 4456 poroo is best translated into “hardened” in Mark 6:52 and Mark 8:15-21 where God’s Spirit was being impeded by the disciples flesh thoughts which precluded them from understanding that Jesus was teaching his disciples and all who “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” that the more human beings we allow to come between us and God the more fragmented becomes God’s Word. Jesus specifically warned about “the leaven” of religious leaders “How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees”? “Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees”. When I searched Adherents.com a few months ago I counted 4,351 religions listed alphabetically indicating that there are at least 4,351 different doctrines being taught and their grammatical objects are those doctrine’s adherents. Today, when I searched adherents.com the search rendered a purveyor of loans so I recommend searching “how many world religions are there” which will render a comparable number. I will no longer refer to adherents I will just refer to the number of religions I counted.
Romans 11:8: “According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear unto this day”.
English “slumber” was translated from a fascinating Greek noun 2659 katanyxis being piercing from Greek verb 2660 katanyssomai meaning to pierce and God’s piercing is described in the 12th chapter of Hebrews as “grievous”. “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all” God’s light pierces hearts, souls and minds of human beings most of whom do not like it “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil”. God did not give “the rest” “the spirit of slumber” which is best explained by an electrical analogy of a light in your living room which was wired directly from your breaker box and the light would always be on if the electrician had not installed a switch to break the circuit and turn the light off. “God is light”. God’s light is always on and “the election” “that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God” while “the rest” “hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved” and they turn off the light switch causing “the spirit of slumber” but God’s light is still there waiting for “the rest” to be persuaded by “the election” to turn the switch back on. “Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him” “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God” “From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool”. We will fully examine preceding verses and the 12th chapter of Hebrews in a future post.
